There is nothing to say about Toni Lamprecht and his never-ending search for incredible lines to climb. One of Toni’s big abillities is to find gold where no one else is expecting it. PI, a problem based in a small cave, where you first have to shovel away the snow to get into it, is no exception.
It had snowed for days and we had spent our days more or less living the citylife in Munich, once in a while driving out to Kochel or Buchenhain to boulder a bit. On the first day of sun Toni woke me up early and we drove out to the Leonardstein. The snow was hip-deep. The first lesson, when you go climbing with Toni is: There is no one out there more psyched than Toni. So I slowly tried to follow Toni in the snow up the hill for maybe an hour (It more felt like three…), before he stopped at a small snowhole somewhere. “We have to go down there. Down there is the PI, the problem I told you.” So we slided down into the dark and instantly Toni started to tell me about the moves even before he had turned his headtorch on. We were standing in this little cave, from two little holes light was coming in, and Toni told me, that the other one was the exit of the problem. It more looked like a birth simulator to me, when it comes to the size, but ok. To say that the whole situation was a little bit weired is an understatement.
But we turned on a bigger light and Toni started to show me the moves. No warm-up, no nothing. Some of the holds were a little bit wet, but we tried to dry them with a shirt. Lesson two is: There are no bad conditions, also when it comes to missing light, because it’s winter and the sun is going down. And that was once again the fact, when we came out. The good thing was, that we could now use the snow for a bit of fun with the skis on our way down.
