Young Guns
The young talents in competition climbing nowadays are way more professionell than the whole thing was a few years ago. Today there are trainers, national teams, training courses and all that stuff. Climbing has become on the competition side of the game a high-class professionall sport. In the last few years i had the chance to follow the german team to some events to shoot documentarys about it for the german alpine club.
After a training course in Font in the beginning of the year the yearly series of the EYC, now called EYS events started. Imst is a classic stage of this normally in around five competitions divided events in Cities around Europe. ‘Generation Next’ was shot to give a behind the scenes of a international climbing competition, so maybe it’s a good start-up.
11 reasons to go east
Every year in the summer the highlight of the season are the World Championships. Most of the time the event is somewhere out of Europe at a more or less exotic location. A great chance for the young guns to dive into experiencing a new culture. In 2005 the World Championships happend in Bejing, China, kind of a forerunner for the Olympics in 2008. ‘11 Reasons to go east’ gives you some reasons why to go there, even when there are maybe two or three points that are not for you…
Mas Gas!
In 2007 the World Championships took place in Ecuador and again a small team of germanys best climbing talents was there to fight for the trophys and after that get a little bit of alpine life and a sense for the culture. ‘Mas Gas!’ is all about this.
