NEED magazine

Right-Click to Save

With a lot of my recent work, one of the main tasks is to create awareness for the different issues i’m covering. The internet might be one thing, presentations and publications another one. At the end one of the biggest problems to get those stories into magazines is that the story also has to be sellable to the advertisment people. And also that some stories might be talked out or too far away to get enough interest. It is nice to see that there are magazines like the NEED magazine, which are specialised on covering the stories of humanitarian issues.

“We are not out to save the world but to tell the stories of those who are.”

With an unagitated und clean layout, giving the pictures space to unfold their power, and the true motivation to be one part of the change in the peoples minds, one could just hope that in times where print media is getting more and more into crisis this idea could stand for a long time and they also find a way to get finacial support for this project. It’s worth it, i think.

P.S.: The content by the way is high-class with pictures of great photographers, for instance like James Nachtwey, who won one of last years TED prizes and sat down with them for a talk about photojournalism, respect for the people you photograph and his TED wish. This is the first part about photojournalism, here you’ll find the whole story.
