Two days ago John Bachar passed away by a free soloing accident. John was on of the big figures in the early ages of sportclimbing, being beside Ron Kauk the unbeatable master of the Yosmite climbing scene. Establishing things like the famous Midnight Lightning. There was always the little story about John, waiting in the woods for people coming by and looking at this at the time superhard problem and then just coming out and climb it easily to leave some stunning eyes. All that as if it was just by accident. Later John focused more and more on climbing free solo with unbelievable achievments there.
