Bangladesh by Jonathan Bjerg Moeller

Bangladesh

The climate change debatte is in full swing right now and after years of looking away it is coming on the watch of everyone. The effects of climate change are getting more and more viewable and especially in the third world countries are hit the hardest by the effects due to poor infrastructure and no possibilities to fight the changing weather conditions. Floods, missing rain seasons, sudden harsh weather events, all this is making the life of the people harder every year. Future szenarios are drawing pictures of future fights and wars about water, new fights because of the lack of land usable for agriculture. And if not the fast growing population is another big problem. It’s mainly the combination of overpopulation, poverty and the changing conditions that make it what it is – one of the biggest issues of the future. And Bangladesh is no exception.

Jonathan Bjerg Moeller spent the last eight month in Bangladesh to cover the effects of climate change there. Jonathan put together a huge multimedia projects, consisting five chapters. It is schedualed for November, shortly before the big Copenhagen Climate Summit and the chapters will cover the effects of climate change to ordinary people as you could see today. It reminded me a lot on the aim i had with doing the film called ‘footprints in life’ about the effects of climate change to the people in the area around Nanyuki in Kenya. Projects like this are really important and will get more important in the future to create awareness for this theme and show how it affects people on a ground level. The multimedia piece was produced by Jonathan and the Bombay FC programmed and designed the flashsite for it. You can see it with clicking on the picture at the top or here.
