THE STORY

Meet Nkasi. We met Nkasi in the Kayelitsha township outside of Capetown. We hope that this will give you a first good impression of how she approaches life. A powerful and warm-hearted woman, that does a perfect start for our series of people from all over Africa.

ABOUT HUMANS

What would happen if we go out and start asking people about general values and ideas of life? Like ‘What makes you happy?’ or ‘What are you proud of?’ – questions that you can ask people all over the world and everyone had an answer for you. That is what HUMANS is based on – a simple yet deep concept that allows the viewer to get close to the people, their lives and the circumstances they live in. Our hope is to create some intercultural understanding with getting personal and creating unique short films of each person, based on their lives and approaches to life.
In 2011 we headed out for half a year to travel once all the way through Africa. Starting in Capetown in June and finishing in Cairo in December, we followed 60 people in their daily lives, interviewed them with our ten basic questions and are now in the process to edit all the short films.
In the same time the project took of to other parts of the world partly in collaboration with other filmmakers creating stories from France, India, Greece, Ghana and Uganda with adding new countries constantly, working on the idea to create a platform that will at some point allow to have insight into the lives of people from all over the world.
