THE STORY
In spring 2012 danish Reggae/ Danchall band Von Dü released their second album. One of the big hits on the album was the summer-feel good song Sexy Slange. When talking about the ideas for the music video for the song, we came up with a couple of ideas, but the one that we all liked best was to get out on the first of May, a big celebration day in Denmark and film the music video on the fly during the parties and concerts that happen all day long at Fælledparken in Copenhagen. We wanted to create a video that with energy and feel would fit to the song and it’s atmosphere.
In addition to the official music video the song was released as a free download to the huge following of the band with the invitation to create fan music video.
ABOUT VON DÜ
In 2010 we met a young danish Reggae/ Dancehall band that had just recorded their first album. In the coming months Flow Media produced different videos for them, documenting the life at the concerts and behind the scenes as well as doing most of the music videos for them. Bringing together the approach from documentaries, but now taking new grounds with creating planned (or sometimes not so planned) music videos or having the music play the most important part in the videos, is an interesting process that allows a lot of creativity and artistic freedom. And a great learning experience too as the focus of the musicians on the music and the focus on the visual storytelling by yours truly allows new approaches and synergies in the editing process to take it one step further.
In 2012, two years after we first met, Von Dü is about to take the next step. The boys have just recorded their second album and are slowly developing from the fun underground party band to a contender for the best liveband in Denmark. And we are still with them creating the visual documentation and the music videos for them.
